thanks a lot I’m kinda new to fishing and this really helped me out I just got a $40 spinning rod from academy to learn the basics and once I get better I’m gonna get a better rod. Now I know not to get a rod and reel combo. My biggest issue is setting the hook right now so once I learn that I’ll get a new one!
What rods do you match your 6000 kast king and 8000 penn spinning reels?
Can I go fishing without the reel ?
I went on a fishing trip with a rod that was too light. I knew that was the case and before the next trip I went to get a new rod and was between two shimano saguaros one was an 8 foot heavy the other was a 7 foot medium heavy both had the same line weights and everything. We were using 3-8 oz weights for dropper loops so I grabbed lead weights and hung them from the end of the rod and the 7 foot medium heavy could withstand the weights without bending but the 8 foot heavy bent immediately as if I hooked a fish. Im struggling to understand why Thats the case because I would assume the heavy rod would be less likely to bend.
